About ORSA

Welcome to Oxford Road Community School‘s very own Space & Science Academy, ORSA.

Here we will be exploring Space, astronomy, science and a whole load more. Our first mission crew launched with ESA astronaut Tim Peake’s Principia mission to the International Space Station way back in 2016. We are now onto our 3rd Phase – year 3!

ORSA takes place every Thursday after school from 3.30 till 5.30 – we run an ORSA application process and in 2017 our ORSAnaut Selection Session was run by BBC2 Astronaut winner Dr Suzie Imber from Leicester University.

Each year we try and inspire our young ORSAnauts by introducing them to a wide range of different stem fields. We run the following missions in our first two tears of ORSA ; Astronomy, Solar System, Wearable Tech, Construction, Meteorology, Physics, Botany, Energy and many many other exciting sessions. #ORSAnauts have visited Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, The Science Museum, University of Reading Meteorolgy and Botany Departments as well as winning a place to present ORSA to Tim Peake at the Principia Conference in November 2016.

WANT TO BE AN ORSA PARTNER SCHOOL OR WORK WITH ORSA IN 2018?

If you would be interested in some collaborative Space and Science ideas/investigations/experiments in first half of 2018 please leave contact on comments and I’ll be in touch.

ORSA is for pupils 7-10 years old and we would love to have links all over the world. After all the crew of the ISS are watching down on all of us!
